Fat vs. Fresh

As we get older, our faces lose volume.  Being particularly skinny when this volume loss occurs can emphasize the effects of aging.  It is a time you won’t mind having a few extra pounds. But before you reach for that extra scoop of Haagen-Dazs, realize that according to the New York Daily News, it only applies to women over the age of 40.  A little extra fat in the face can make young women look older and older women look younger.

Dr. Jeffrey Raval can help women over 40 by restoring the lost volume in the face through use of injectable fillers.  This is a quick and minimally invasive procedure that can be performed in office with very little pain and recovery time.

“The analogy that tells the story best is the grape and the raisin,” says Dr. Raval who compares youthful, plump skin to a fresh grape. As the grape ages, it loses its volume and turns into a raisin. The same thing happens to the face, he explains, as it loses fat volume over time.

Fillers like Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm and Radiesse are injected into the skin, plumping it up and leaving the patient looking years young instantly.
